Poetry, Grades 7 - 9: First Place

My Place - Asher Mintzer

When I am stressed I go fishing.
Fishing lets me escape
to a place where I don’t need to worry.

There is only the sound of nature,
the birds chirping,
the ducks quacking,
And the deer stepping on the damp ground with their hard hooves.

I see the lake,
the water is as smooth and clear
as glass
with the occasional ripple
of a turtle
peering his head out of the water to look around.

I see the red, yellow and orange leaves
on the beautiful trees in the distance
looking back at me.

Cast
      after
             cast,
it is like throwing my troubles
                                               away.
