If I Could Wish - Baila Elkin
If I could wish for anything,
I'd wish to be a bird,
I wouldn't care if people said,
"Now, dear, don't be absurd."
I wouldn't care if people said,
"Now, dear, that's just not right."
I'd fly away into the sky,
I'd fly right out of sight.
If I could wish for anything,
I'd wish to be two flies,
I wouldn't care if people said,
"Now, dear, don't fantasize."
I wouldn't care if people said,
"You're one, you can't be two."
I'd fly away and then I'd say,
"Oh, yes, I can! So - foo!"
If I could wish, I'd wish and wish,
So many things to be,
But today, maybe, I'll sit and think,
Of how nice it is to just be me.
